Our very own “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”- Elegant Style

When I first spoke with Jennifer and her mother, Angela, I knew I would love working with them.  How right I was!

Here was a mother-daughter team who had created and envisioned the entire event, and who wanted someone they could trust who could make their vision come to life.  I was honored (and super excited) that they asked me to be the one to do it.

I loved how they incorporated Greek tradition to their Colorado modern wedding style.  I had a moment of pure bliss (yes, I did have a silly grin on my face as the photographer noticed), when I was by their bundt cake, complete with florals in the center, and they began Greek dancing in several circles in the middle of the dance floor.  I felt as if I was experiencing the movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and I loved every moment.  I sort of wanted to nudge someone, instead, I did a little dance in place.

The details were perfect- from the yellow aisle runner as guests walked into the Denver Art Museum for the reception, to the floral centerpieces, to the gobo, to the menus, to the Jordan almond filled favor boxes (yup, a tradition).  Seeing it all come together in such a great space made me happy.

Favorite part of the evening:  Having the mother-of-the-bride peek into the reception space before we opened the doors from cocktail hour and state that it was exactly what she had hoped for!  That, and experiencing the love between the bride and groom, and the bride’s sisters (all 4 of them!).

Jennifer, John, and Angela, I loved working with you.  It came together with such ease and fun, and that is truly what you created for the evening.

Evergreen Lake House Wedding

This past weekend I had the chance of checking in with this lovely couple and I got transported back to their lovely wedding weekend.  I thought I would share some of their moments.

Jonathan and Jen’s wedding took place at the beautiful Evergreen Lake House and is a wonderful example of incorporating different traditions, cultures, and personalities into a unique and personalized ceremony and reception.  They did this from incorporating Jewish traditions, to having Jonathan’s super cool cousin officiate the ceremony, to the ultra gifted groomsmen walking down the aisle playing guitars, to showcasing stickers of the yellow equal sign against a blue background for the Human Rights Campaign, in honor of the lgbt community.  The maid of honor even handmade 1001 origami cranes to wish their marriage good luck and longevity , part of her Chinese heritage.

Other awesome memories include the risotto cakes from Biscuits and Berries (delicious!), the most amazing favors of mini bundt cakes provided at each setting by The Bundt Shoppe (guests were stealing these from one another ;)), and dancing to the funk beats of mojomama where people got silly on the dance floor.  The best part was not only did I get to help with the details of this wedding, but I had the honor of being in it (with my handsome hubby).  Great friends, great fun!

Thank you From the Hip Photographers for capturing the moments of the day.  It is always a pleasure working with you!

How to Plan a Vail, Colorado Wedding

I had the honor of working with Bridget and Brett during their September 2011 wedding weekend.  It was a wedding filled with so much love and laughter- and what was palpable was the importance of family and friends.  From Bridget’s brother officiating, to their 2 dogs walking down the aisle, to the stylish wedding party, to the kids tearing it up on the dance floor, to the skype call with their grandfather who couldn’t make it into town…everybody was made to feel like they were part of the fam’.  The couple’s intention…crazy fun!  And that is what they created with the help of the Donovan Pavilion with its gorgeous backdrop and versatility, and Funkiphino serenading them into their life together.

What I loved with this couple was their attention to detail (so fun for a wedding planner), and that they were not afraid to include their personality.  Who needs champagne?  Beer for toasts it was :)!  Brett is also an artist with Tarazzo Vintage Original, and being the amazing artist that he is, he created a logo for their wedding weekend.  This logo and design translated into being printed on the tote bags  they gave to each guest with their welcome gifts, to the programs, to the escort cards, to the table signs, to the matted frame they had for their guestbook.

(If you are interested in creating a logo for your event and you are not an artist- do not despair.  Their are many companies out there who will do this for you. So have fun with it!  Be creative!)

Bridget and Brett, thank you for allowing me to share your beautiful day.  I had a blast meeting your family and friends and watching you all dance the night  away…

Plus- as a wedding planner, I always love to hear the guests exclaim, “best wedding ever!”

Evergreen Wedding

Here’s a sneak peek into an early September wedding at the Evergreen Lake House, Colorado. What a beautiful venue, with a beautiful backdrop, and even a fisherman on the lake who decided he wanted to be in many of the pictures… Stay tuned for more pics of their lovely wedding by their wonderful photographer at From the Hip.
Jonathan and Jen,
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your wedding. What an honor and a privilege it was to be there for all the magic and all the love present. Plus, I loved that you allowed me to help with some of the details. Love you guys!
