While I was watching Letters to Juliet the other night (I swear it was for the scenery and not the chick-flickiness of it!), I was enjoying a little alone and escape time while my boys were sleeping. Wrapped up in the movie, I started smiling- to myself- to the TV- whatever- smiling while no one was around, and realized what a sap I really am.
A photographer recently exclaimed to me, “you’re one of those planners who cries at every wedding, aren’t you?”
I smiled through my happy tears and said, “Yes, I guess I am.”
“Even after so many?”
I don’t think I answered him then, but I then thought, “of course I do!”
I believe that weddings bring out the best of what there is in life. It is a moment in time that is just perfect. You’re surrounded by the most important people in your life, the people you love and who love you the most, and everyone is there to share and to celebrate all that is magical in this term we call “love”. Even more so, they are there to witness the spoken commitment that two people courageously make to one another.
And I have the honor of taking the journey with the couple in their planning of this occasion? Yes, please. What can get better than that? Ultimately, it is why I do what I do and why I created the company I did.
During the ‘wedding season’ it is easy for us coordinators to get lost in the details, we forget the reason we are writing all of these emails and making all of these calls in the first place. And then I have the opportunity to experience the weddings I have-the most authentic, sweet, and passion filled weddings days- and it is like a slap in the face- these are the days where I remember what a gift life is and what is most important.
Thank you to all my couples who share their day with me. I am ever grateful.
